CMS FAQs
Please take the time to read through our quick informative guide on how to best manage and update your new cms powered web site. Follow the guidelines in this FAQ section and login to your cms and run through the instructions for adding a new web page from one of your new fully custom integrated design templates and you should be able to do most of the updates that you need to do. If you still need help and assistance in any area we also provide cms online training for our content management system customers. Installation of the CMSWe will usually do this for you but some customers prefer to do their own server admin so if that is you, please carry on reading this section. If you prefer us to take care of the cms installation then just skip to the Create my first web page section. If you do not have MySQL access you need to ask your web hosting company to create the DB (database) for you and maybe the MySQL user and password as well. If you use CPanel, there is a MySQL item within your CPanel. You need to create the DB first, then the user, assign the user to the DB and then put the info in the installer which sometimes CPanel changes the name by adding websitename_dbname so you need to take that into consideration when doing the installation. You need to place the cms under the admin folder otherwise it won't work properly, It would have to be www.1cmsonline.com/admin (making sure you use your own domain name/admin) Create my first web pageFirst you need to create a new web page so that you can see it on the live address and change it within your new content management system or cms. In the first left top menu "Site Pages" -> "Manage Pages", you can add new pages from the button at the bottom of the "Manage Pages" area. You can add anything you like from page copy to images and immediately see the changes live on your new web site after clicking save. You can also add more links at the bottom of the page if you want. You just need to edit the texts using the cms. The first text area is RTF Intro which adds text and images to the left hand side of your web page The next area is the Text Character section for adjusting meta data titles, descriptions and keywords. Then the RTF Character which is the actual main page content. Finally you have the RTF description and page footer. Remember to save any changes made to your new web page and click on the refresh icon to view your new web site page that you just created. Menu Bar As soon as we have designed and integrated your custom menu bar you will be easily able to update your menu bar for all pages within one section. You can add new links in the admin section of "Site Widgets" (the one between site pages and site images.) That is it for now. We will be adding to this section to cover all the main areas that are covered in cms online training sessions so that our customers can quickly get used to managing and updating their new web sites. |
